East Bay Children’s Theatre Brings Back Record-Setting Musical

The Madcap Musical Spoof

East Bay Children’s Theatre, the treasured theatrical troupe, is celebrating its 85th season by returning to a favorite wishing well. For 2017, the venerable company is presenting an encore production of their record-setting musical THAT’S OUR SNOW WHITE!

THAT’S OUR SNOW WHITE! is a madcap spoof of the classic tale that’s zany fun for the entire family. Come meet Snow White: The high-maintenance princess with a heart of gold who’s loved by all the furry creatures of the land—especially Prince Ponderous. The cast of kooky cutups also includes the Evil Queen; her back-talking Magic Mirror; the Furry Friends; and, of course, the Six Dwarfs. (Six?!)

Will Snow White thwart the evil plot of her Wicked Stepmother? Will she ever find her Prince? Will she be able to hit her high notes? The tongue-in-cheek script and Broadway flavored songs will enchant children, and have adults rolling in the aisles.

EBCT commissioned award-winning playwright and composer Ron Lytle to create the popular family musical in 2008, and the response was ecstatic. Following that world premiere, the show was released to companies nationwide; and it’s been happily ever after, ever since. Now EBCT is raising the curtain on an all-new production that promises to be even bigger, even better and even brassier!

That’s Our Snow White! was EBCT’s biggest hit ever when we debuted it,” says company president Eve Tieck. The cast is terrific, and the material is so fresh and funny. Audiences are definitely in for a real treat!”

The cast is comprised of talent gathered from throughout the entire Bay Area, and includes: Terry Pink Alexander, Chloe Barg, Mary Bishop, Abe Bernstein, Kate Brennan, Barbara Ann Cecchetti, Karen Fox, Travis Himebaugh, Diana Kehrig, Bryan Munar, Merle Nadlin, Ethan Ostrow, Krista Joy Serpa, Wayne Steffen and Jacob Thompson.

The satirical score contains one knock-out number after another: “The Opening Number,” “I’m Wishing and Wishing,” “One Singular Song,” "I'll Whistle; You Work!" "How Do You Like Them Apples?" "Watch Out!," and "That's Our Snow White!"

Public performances of THAT’S OUR SNOW WHITE! will be presented March 5 (1:00 and 3:00) at The Jewish Community Center of the East Bay in Berkeley; March 19 (1:00 and 3:00) at the Orinda Library Auditorium in Orinda; March 26 (2:00) at the California Theatre in Pittsburg; and April 1st at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton. Tickets are $12-$17, and may be purchased online at: Approximately 1 hour. Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as performances will sell out.
