Restaurant Walk: A Benefit for Girls' Science Education

Tue, October 6, 2015

More than 20 Walnut Creek restaurants will be providing delicious samples from their menus during the Walnut Creek Restaurant Walk, from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 6, sponsored by the American Association of University Women.

Join this progressive dinner party in downtown Walnut Creek, which benefits scholarships for young women to attend science/math summer camp provided by the Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette branch Tech Trek fund. The camp features hands-on activities in computers, engineering, math and science and is designed to develop interest, excitement and self-confidence in young women who enter eighth grade in the fall.

Girls who attended camp this summer said "I cannot thank you enough for sending me to Tech Trek. The experiences were magical and simply life changing…. These are lessons are not only for me as a scientist and mathematician, but for the rest of my life…." "Every activity I participated in taught me something new and sparked my curiosity. ….I will never forget this week because it has been one of the best ones of my life."

Enjoy some wonderful food and help us provide this important experience for more girls by sending your check for $30 per person to Jan Cushman at 143 Meadow View, Orinda, CA 94563. Checks should be made out to AAUW OML Community Outreach Fund, Inc.
