In 1989, Morrow won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Rain Man, the story of a wheeler-dealer (Tom Cruise) and his idiot savant brother (Dustin Hoffman). Morrow wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay with Ronald Bass. Barry Levinson directed. Rain Man received overwhelmingly positive reviews, praising Hoffman's role and the wit and sophistication of the screenplay. It was the highest-grossing film of 1988 and won four Oscars.
