Friends, Food & Entertainment. 23 Participating Restaurants. Tickets on sale now. Purchase by May 8 to save.
There is no better way to experience Lafayette’s Restaurant Row dining than with friends, family and neighbors – and that is exactly why “Taste of Lafayette” has become such a popular annual event.
The Taste of Lafayette offers more than a chance to stroll through beautiful downtown Lafayette while sampling signature dishes from the town’s regionally popular Restaurant Row restaurants and local caterers – although that is as delicious as it sounds. Now in its 13th year, this popular culinary treat has become a much-anticipated annual community party.
“It’s that one spring night where the sidewalks of Lafayette are filled with hundreds of smiling people, everyone enjoying conversation with friends and neighbors,” says Lafayette Chamber’s Executive Director, Jay Lifson.
It helps that this restaurant stroll starts with a hosted wine and beer reception for all at 5:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Plaza Park. Here, participants check in, meet friends, nosh on appetizers provided by local restaurants and caterers, and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or beer, courtesy of Wine Thieves. The reception food items (and desserts later) are provided by The Hide Out Kitchen & Cafe, Park Bistro and Bar, Lantern Catering, Bonehead BBQ, Girard’s Catering, Huckleberry Café To Go, Millie’s Kitchen, T’s Firehouse and Whole Foods.
There is always entertainment at the reception. This year, prepare to enjoy the blues, with Blind Love, courtesy of Red House Studios.
The “stroll” begins at 6:30 p.m., when ticket holders head out at their own pace with friends to stop any or all of the participating restaurants for sampling. Time limit? 2 hours. Five new restaurants are participating and they include: Yankee Pier, Patxi’s Pizza, Amarin Thai, Rancho Cantina, Happy Valley, Smitten, Pizza Antica, La Finestra Ristorante, Uncle Yu’s, Rustic Tavern, The Cooperage American Grille, Cake., American Kitchen, Mangia Ristorante, and Chevalier. Special offerings await you at Floret, Klein Gallery/The Art Room, Floral Arts & Powell’s Sweet Shoppe.
It’s an easy walk but for those who prefer to ride, there are two free shuttle buses.
Don’t worry if some friends want to set a different pace. Everyone meets back at Lafayette Plaza Park at 8:30 p.m. to compare notes over dessert and coffee.
There’s more. This fun community event also serves an important local fundraising purpose. It helps raise funds for Lafayette Community Foundation, a long standing local non-profit that investing in programs and projects which promote and enhance the civic, cultural, educational and environmental health of Lafayette. The Foundation also draws the winners of its annual raffle during the Taste’s dessert reception.
Please join in this fun – and tasty – community celebration.
