"The first Lafayette Hospice East Bay Tree of Lights was selected by Tom and Pat Whitten in the early 90's. The tree was on property owned by the Hunt family who promptly gave permission to use their tree. An electrician was hired to string the lights at a cost of $4,000 which was exactly the amount of the donations that year. A tree lighting ceremony was held early in December in the pouring rain. The tree has remained lit during the Christmas season for many years." - Pat Whitten
A ceremony will be held Friday, December 8 at 4:30pm at the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. at Lafayette Circle East.
