Director Lisa Forkish, accompanist Emily Tian, and the DiabloWomen's Chorale present a program filledwith reflective songs of peace and unity. The concert theme, "Season ofLight," speaks to both the light within us and the light that connects allof us. Diablo Women’s Chorale is a lively group of singers from theBay Area, presenting concerts in December and May. New members are welcomed in August andJanuary.
Lisa Forkish is an Oakland-based vocalist, composer,arranger, and music educator. She served four years as music director for theUniversity of Oregon’s a cappella group, Divisi, featured in the best-sellingbook “Pitch Perfect," later made into the hit film of the same name. Lisastudied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She is part of the vocalmusic faculty at Oakland School for the Arts and also the director of VocalRush, OSA's award-winning a cappella ensemble. Lisa is also a founder of theWomen’s A Cappella Association. This is her second season directing DWC.
Emily Tian was the former vocal and instrumental coach at CalState East Bay University. She was the accompanist for Young Women’s ChoralProject in San Francisco, CSU East Bay Singing Society. Currently, Emily collaborates regularly withemerging and established composers and musicians alike, all while maintaining afull-time position as the lead piano faculty at Oakland School for the Arts. This is Emily’s first season as the DWCaccompanist.
