Thu, October 20, 2016

Contra Costa Climate Leaders, welcomes you to our upcoming workshop! ‘Cities Partnering with Business to Meet the SB32 & Community Wide Climate Action Plan Goals’

Thursday, October 20, 8-Noon, Lafayette Library

After transportation, businesses are the largest emitter of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) and working together with cities is going to be critical to reduce those GHG’s to comply with SB 32 recently signed by Governor Brown. SB 32 requires that GHG emissions are reduced to 40 % below 1990 levels by 2030. The goal of this workshop is to share case studies and best practices of how cities can make their own “business” (city-owned/leased buildings sustainable) and provide outreach/incentive programs to inspire their business community to reduce GHG emissions as part of reaching the goals outlined in the city’s Climate Action Plan- and General Plans. Cities + Businesses: Together we can become a more sustainable community! The institute for local governments will provide an Overview of SB32 and State Requirements/ Role of Cities and Businesses, and Beacon Award: Recognizing Holistic City approaches to Addressing Climate Change; DNVLG will discuss Utilizing and Sharing Business programs to Reduce City-wide GHG and Energy and Water Use; and the county and others will discuss Regional Efforts and Sharing Best Practices on business incentives, green business programs, business loan programs, and more! Hosted by the City of Lafayette, we will hear about how they launched their own city-wide green business program. RSVP or for more details: info@cccclimateleaders.org or (925) 631-0597
