Bay Area’s East Bay Bars Compete for Mixologist of the Year on 10/25

Orinda Arts Council Announces 10/25 Art of Mixology Competitors

ORINDA, CA, October 16, 2014: There will be 16 East Bay bars and professional bartenders competing in the first annual Art of Mixology craft cocktail competition and tasting happening on October 25 at Orinda Theatre Square.

The fundraiser, held from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, will support arts programs throughout Lamorinda. Bars from the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Orinda, Lafayette and Walnut Creek will be crafting their tastiest cocktails in the hopes of earning cash, trophies and the claim to Mixologist of the Year.

Participating bars include: Oakland’s Flora Restaurant, Forge, Hutch Cocktails and Oysters, Lungomare and Toast Kitchen + Bar; Lafayette’s The Cooperage American Grille, Metro Lafayette, Roundup Saloon and Yankee Pier; Orinda’s Barbacoa, Casa Orinda and Table 24; Walnut Creek’s Corners Tavern and Walnut Creek Yacht Club; Revival Bar + Kitchen in Berkeley; and Honor Kitchen & Cocktails in Emeryville. The distinguished panel of judges includes cocktail historian Shanna Farrell, Hotsy Totsy bar owner and mixologist instructor Jessica Maria, and Diablo Magazine Managing Editor Kristen Haney.

Audience tasting tickets can also be purchased at http://OrindaArts.org/Mixology, and allow adults over 21 years of age to sample safe and sane portions of all of the participants’ creations, as well as entries in the amateur category.
