Information on the Artist
Lundy Siegriest was surrounded by art and artists all his life. His father, Louis Bassi Siegriest, was a member of the “Society of Six,” the first group of California Impressionists. Lundy himself served in WWII and then enrolled at the California College of Arts and Crafts. He taught art at Civic Arts in Walnut Creek from 1961 to 1985. In 1975 he joined colleagues in retracing the traditions of the Society of Six painting oils en plein air throughout Contra Costa County. It soon became his obsession. All the paintings in this exhibit are from that period and were painted in Contra Costa County.
